Depute Head Teacher, Boclair Academy
Clare Morgan has been Depute Head Teacher in Boclair Academy since January 2017. Prior to this Clare was a Principal Teacher of Guidance in the school from August 2007 following her promotion from acting Principal Teacher of Pastoral Care in Govan High School where she also worked as a Teacher of Physical Education.
A former pupil of Cardinal Newman High School in Bellshill, Clare understands that career pathways for young women are not always straightforward and she has committed her working life to helping to ensure young men and women are well supported through school. Clare is passionate about ensuring all young people maximise their potential.
Her commitment and drive have ensured hundreds of young people in her care have successfully moved onto positive destinations in their life beyond school. Her commitment to developing a wider achievement profile for all young people in Boclair Academy led to her pioneering work with the national charity Medics Against Violence. Clare introduced the Medics Against Violence Programme to Boclair Academy in 2013 and has been a driving force behind its success.
Over this time the programme has developed into an Intern Programme where young people in S6 are trained as MAV Interns and provide peer mentoring and learning opportunities to pupils in younger years. Clare has also led training events for Health Care workers and teachers in other secondary schools who have engaged with Medics Against Violence. Clare is an inspiring role model to the young women in Boclair Academy and has personally benefitted from a mentoring approach to her own career. As part of the IWiL Programme she is committed to helping other women become successful in their working lives.
