Director, Rutherford Sheridan Solicitors
Melissa studied at Glasgow University, firstly completing a Science Degree and then a Law degree. She qualified as a solicitor following her 2 year traineeship. Sooner after, she became an associate at one of the top 5 legal aid law firms in Scotland; and managed the criminal law department and also a team of solicitors. She started her own law firm on 30th December 2016.
Melissa’s inspiration came from her mother, who is a strong, female leader, personally and professionally. She always taught Melissa to work hard and encouraged her every step of the way. Melissa has one young daughter and is hopeful she can instil in her self belief and motivation.
Melissa has always been passionate about access to justice, helping people and fighting for rights of those without a voice.
She has been involved in roadshows and seminars for trainee solicitors for the Law society of Scotland as well as at Glasgow University. In September 2017 she started tutoring students at the University of Strathclyde and is hopeful she can inspire and learn from the future of the profession.”
