Congratulations to Carillion Modern Apprentice Mathew Lawson who has just moved into a full time employment position with Advance Construction Scotland. Mathew, from Bearsden, had only been on work placement with Advance for 5 months, but his commitment and willingness to learn led the contractor to make a decision and employ him on a full time basis. Mathew who will continue to undertake his General Construction Operations Modern Apprenticeship whilst in his new role is delighted to be given such an opportunity with one of Scotland's biggest contractors. Advance continue to support sustainable employment of TIGERS modern apprentices, who they initially engaged with through the TIGERS/Carillion Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, having now employed four apprentices over the last eight weeks.
A recap of the activities TIGERS have been involved in during day one of Scottish Apprenticeship Week 16
On the first day of #ScotMAWeek16 MSP Stewart Maxwell paid a visit to Civil Engineering firm George Leslie Ltd, there Stewart met with a number of current and past TIGERS Modern Apprentices to discuss their journey from school/unemployment to full time employment.
“I was delighted to be invited by Skills Development Scotland to visit local employers based in East Renfrewshire and see first hand the success these businesses have had in employing modern apprentices. It was very pleasing to talk with the apprentices and learn about the positive effect it has had on their lives after going through the scheme."
