Business Administration Level 3 Modern Apprentice - TIGERS Ltd
Be the Future - Reality of Being an Apprentice
If you think about being an apprentice the word such as “tea runner” seems to crop up a lot, in this blog I will explain the exact truth of being an apprentice and how beneficial is can be for your future and also the business that you work in. I will also briefly share my story and how I felt an apprenticeship route was the best way to go forward.
For me being not the best intellectual person in my school, the only options I felt I had was to go to college or to stay on and study and get no practical experience of the world of work but this was not the case, I then stumbled across a training provider called Tigers and within a couple of month of getting practical experience though the help of Tigers I nailed myself an apprenticeship with the company themselves!! 1 year later and I am still currently with the company, completed my SVQ Level 2 in Business Administration and currently doing my Level 3.
Being an apprentice is a brilliant way of combining practical skill with technical knowledge which basically means you are getting the best of both. You’re NOT sitting in a classroom writing a 1000 word essay “yawn”, your actually experiencing it first hand and then writing about the tasks you have been involved in which is so much simpler that it sounds.
Let’s go straight to the hot topic Involvement. There are so many myths going about that apprentice’s are not involved in the company as much as employee’s are and that they are only there to run around doing silly unnecessary tasks and making teas which is NOT the case. From first-hand experience I know that my thoughts are valued within the business just like any other business who has taken on a Modern Apprentice. They value our thoughts because we are a new set of eyes, we hold so many ideas and this is beneficial as it can only make our business better. Tip #1 for any apprentice’s out there, voice your ideas there is no silly answers also we are not involved in unnecessary tasks, we are “Modern” Apprentices, we create, we update and we input into our business. We are the current generation and we will be the future of businesses worldwide. In regards to the tea making everyone is involved in this, I know from my experience that all members of the company I work in has offered me a cup of tea or coffee this is including my director. Do you have any more myths you feel as an apprentice isn't true?
I feel personally the Apprenticeship route is the route to go because it lets us gain the experience/knowledge for the world of work which further education cannot do. Starting out as an apprentice can be a little bit tough but just remember your the sky’s the limit and we can do anything we put our mind too.
