Current Employment Status – 3rd year apprentice JB Brickwork
Sean is in the 3rd year of his Bricklaying apprenticeship with JB Brickwork after completing a TIGERS Get Ready for Work programme and 18 month Carillion GCO Modern Apprenticeship.
Sean joined the TIGERS Get Ready for Work Programme in September 2009 and began working towards gaining his CSCS Health and Safety card. He achieved this in November 2009 and also achieved his National Unit in Work Safety which involved fire safety, manual handling and electrical safety. Throughout his time on the Get Ready for Work, Sean demonstrated his commitment to the programme by having an excellent timekeeping and attendance record and a willingness to learn new skills.
After a successful interview, Sean progressed into full time employment with Carillion Training Services in January 2010 and started working towards a Modern Apprenticeship in General Construction Operations as part of the TIGERS/Carillion Joint Venture at the Bishopbriggs Training centre. Sean spent some time here learning basic concreting skills, how to set out small excavations and bricklaying and monblocking skills. This allowed Sean to have a variety of skills that he could transfer when he progressed out to site.
Sean moved out to HM Prison, Lowmoss with JB Brickwork where he carried out basic bricklaying tasks and assisted the tradesmen with everyday duties. Sean received excellent feedback from all of his colleagues during his time there and remained on site until he achieved his Modern Apprenticeship in June 2011.
Sean attended an interview with JB Brickwork alongside many others for an apprentice Bricklayer and was successful. Sean started his apprenticeship straight away and is now into his 3rd year.
