Trainee Name – Jamie Christie
Glasgow - Carillion Apprentice
After my school years I joined TIGERS, I spent roughly around 4 weeks at the construction course, they helped me prepare myself for the world of work, to get me ready they done mock interviews and gave me the correct information that I needed to know to become employable. I then had to complete an online project about Carillion before I was fast tracked to have an interview with Carillion due to my good performance. Also during my time at TIGERS I applied for Digger Training through the Princes Trust and my application was accepted, that shows that TIGERS like to get you to move to bigger and better things and this training also gave me a good insight into the career I wanted to have.
I was then successful with my Carillion interview which I was really happy about, to start with I spent three to four weeks in the training centre learning about GCO skills before we then moved to a project at Castlehill Primary in Bearsden, there the client wanted a pond built with a concrete path around it as well as erect a fence around the pond to keep the children safe. During my time at Castlehill I learned loads of new skills and I feel it gave me the opportunity to fulfil my potential and work to a high standard, I would definitely like to be involved in more projects like Castlehill in the future.
